Nottingham, Emley, Grimsby, workshop…
First call of the week on Monday was over in a very cold and windy Emley to check out the coolant loss on Mike’s 1998 MGF 120 in Tahiti Blue (JRJ). We’d replaced the head gasket back in June, but just recently Mike had noticed some coolant on the garage floor. The radiator has now become too old to hold pressure and has separated from the bottom section, this caused it to over pressure and stress the expansion tank. Date booked in to return to fit the radiator and the tank.
We headed down to Nottingham on a very sunny and warm Tuesday morning where we met Paul for work on his 2001 MGF 120 in Platinum Silver (MNX). He’d been told at a recent MOT that there was coolant seeping between the head and block. So we replaced the head gasket for him along with the cambelt service as that was quite overdue. Good to meet Paul, thanks to his wife for the cuppas. It was great to hear from him today that he’d been out for a run and the car is running lovely.
We cracked on with finishing off Mike’s 1997 Mk I MGF VVC in Nightfire Red (CAQ). Full cambelt service, pump up, slave cylinder replaced, drivers door strap repaired and a few other things done, then finally the MOT carried out today. We’re really pleased to have this car all sorted for Mike, which has been off the road for the last four years. We look forward to seeing him again when he can come up and collect ‘Ruby’.
We went back over to Grimsby today to fit the seal that we found to be missing from the fuel pump when we went over last week to replace the fuel gauge on Louis’ 2002 TF 135. While we were there we said we’d try and pin down a coolant leak. On pressure testing the system found the culprit to be one of the spring clips on the underfloor pipes was leaking. New jubilee fitted, and system now holding pressure. Hopefully that’s finally resolved that for him.
Not the week we had planned, we did have a big restoration project booked in for the full week, but this was cancelled. We’re pleased however that at least we managed to get a few other people booked in instead.
The weathers finally taken a bit of an autumnal turn today, thermals at the ready! Have a fab weekend everyone near and far. 🙂 – https://ift.tt/1cpMhb4
