Workshop, Hull, Hambleton…
Not quite as busy a week as usual as we were going to be taking a bit of a long break, but had a change of plan. Nonetheless it’s still been a productive one with some fab MGs.
Dave made the journey up last weekend from Nazeing Essex in his 2005 TF 1.6 Sunstorm in Starlight silver (MBB) to leave with us whilst he had an overnight stay in the area.
With a bright and early start on Monday morning at the workshop we carried out full cambelt service, clutch slave-cylinder replacement, ease off of the clutch release-arm and system bled through, resulting in a nice smooth pedal. Plus brake fluid change, coolant sensor changed and the lambda sensor replaced. The car is a really good example and looks fab, but it did put up a bit of a fight, so Plan B had to be resorted to on the cambelt service. A few missing or wrong bolts etc replaced and happily all sorted and ready for Dave to collect on Monday afternoon.
Having tried a couple of times in the past to book us in when we were down in his area, dates etc just didn’t work out, so it was really great finally to meet him and good to hear later that he’d had an enjoyable run back home.
A very local one for us, on Wednesday morning, when we headed along to Hull for work on Chloe and Joel’s 2002 TF 135 in Trophy Blue (JFV) that previously belonged to Chloe’s father.
Head gasket replacement and full cambelt service carried out, new alternator belt and a new expansion tank cap, as the one on the car failed the pressure test. All went smoothly and we got finished before the rain. Great to meet Joel, with thanks to him for the brews.
Thursday morning found us over in Hambleton for work on Steve’s 2001, but registered in 2002 MGF 120 in British Racing Green (HFF).
The cambelt service was last carried out back in 2006 when owned by his mother and father-in-law and hasn’t really done many miles since. Steve and his wife have plans to undertake a journey over to Germany next year and wanted to make sure everything was ready for the trip. Firstly the hydragas was pumped up as sitting a bit low, cambelt service, alternator belt all fitted, along with a couple of other bits we’d spotted that needed fettling.
Great to meet Steve, thanks to him for the brews, we look forward to seeing him again at the workshop, in the new year, when we’ll carry out full underfloor treatment and this fab MG will be good to go on its further adventures.
So that’s us done for now, we are having a short break with a last minute call in to the travel agents yesterday afternoon, we’re heading off on Tuesday morning for a bit of warmth. A daily check-in by me will be done whilst we’re away as per.
Hope everyone is staying safe in the storms that are currently wreaking their havoc. 🌬️ – https://ift.tt/Ys0hq4t
