Mobile MG Rover Repair Service

Holme-on-Spalding Moor, Kilham, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Penrith, Armathwaite…

Saturday evening and we’re just back home from a few days work in Cumbria, with the week started off at our workshop in Holme-on-Spalding Moor.

Wayne dropped off his year 2000 MGF 120 mpi in British Racing Green (HFF) off last weekend ready for us to start work on it on Monday morning.

Underfloor coolant pipes replaced, both boot hinges replaced, the rear plastic window replaced, heater dial repaired, oil sensor and coolant temperature sensors replaced as they were faulty, new gear gator fitted and she’s all good to go, ready for Wayne to come over from Crewe to collect tomorrow.

Tuesday found us over in Kilham to fit a starter motor to Phil’s 2001 reg MGF in Nightfire Red (CAQ), plus pump up the hydragas while we were there as noticed it was sitting a little low. Great to see them all again and have fusses with their gorgeous woofer Sonny. After a nice chat and a cuppa we headed home.

Van all stocked and prepped for our next away trip, which took us over to our first job on Thursday in Appleby-in-Moorland, where it was good to see Peter again and his 2004 TF 115 Spark. We’d noticed on our last visit that the expansion tank was showing signs of bloating and stress, so it was in the planner to fit a new one next time we were heading that way. After a good chat and a cuppa with Peter we continued on to our digs over in Penrith for the next couple of nights.

With a very short commute on Friday morning in Penrith it was great to meet Nigel and his 2001 MGF 120 mpi that he had inherited from his late father-in-law, who had done an extensive amount of work to over the years, but it had been sat in a farm shed unused for the past 9 years. Nigel wanted to give it a new lease of life and get it back on the road in his memory.

Firstly hydragas pumped up, followed by full cambelt service, coolant flush, gearbox oil, clutch release-arm freed off and system bled. What a lovely mornings work in Nigel’s company, lots of tea, chats and choccie biscuits. A couple of things noted for future maintenance, date booked in to the workshop when Nigel will enjoy a run down to us in April next year.

Another fairly short commute through some stunning countryside, on a frosty Saturday morning, to Armathwaite where we met Andrew and Fran. Andrew had recently purchased a year 2000 MGF 120 mpi in Wedgewood (JBH) at auction, which hadn’t had a cambelt service in 12 years.

Full cambelt service carried out, underfloor coolant pipes replaced with stainless, brake fluid change, clutch-slave cylinder replaced and system bled, hydragas pumped up and now all good to go for them to enjoy.

Another enjoyable mornings work in their company, with lots of good chats, choccie biscuits and warming tea. What a fab few days away with some beautiful weather and in a lovely location too.

We’re looking forward to seeing Dave tomorrow at the workshop when he comes over to drop off his TF and Wayne when he comes to collect his MGF. – https://ift.tt/4bquGsr
