Topless Around the Peak District in aid of UK Homes for Heroes…
Absolutely cracking day with a fantastic turn out, with cars and people coming from far and wide, to raise funds for this very worthy charity, all organised by the lovely Ruth Evans, massive amount of work put in! Great venue found at Crich Tramway and Museum.
So good to see so many friends and have a long awaited catch-up.
We were very proud to be given the opportunity to be sponsors again, hope everyone enjoyed their sweetie bag!
Some great merchandise bought from Jimmy, lovely to see you!
Beautiful weather too.

What an enjoyable day in Stockport today.
Great to meet Jon and his gem of a purchase, an MGF 1.8 VVC’Ruby’ preciously been owned by a Porsche as one of their ‘test the lap’ cars for their experience days. He hadn’t wanted to drive it until he was sure all was sound.
Cambelt service done, including plugs and all filters changed. Underfloor coolant pipes replaced with stainless. Alternator belt fitted, system bled and all up and running nicely.
From there we went a few miles further on and great to meet Stephen, who also had a recent acquisition, an MGF in Copperleaf.
Head gasket and cambelt service carried out, a few other things replaced to get the car up to spec. Lifters were a bit on the tappety side so we added in a tin of good old Wynn’s hydraulic lifter cleaner and the car now sounding so much better.
Lovely hospitality and chats all day and made very welcome with cracking brews, butties and biscuits. Thank you 😊
Now in Glossop to see our friends for the annual charity run. Posted today to the

Corby today and great to meet Charlotte for work on her lovely MGF mpi.
There was limited history when the car was bought so Charlotte asked us to carry out cambelt, water pump and tensioner replacement. Plugs, and all filters replaced too, plus new alternator belt.
Both rear calipers replaced with new.
Fab weather and a good brew, thanks Charlotte!

We collected Robert’s TF135 from Beeford on Sunday ready for some major tlc at the workshop…
Yesterday and today spent working on her. Originally suspected as a seized engine we had intended to swap the entire engine out with one we had in.
Once we started removing more of the engine we discovered that it wasn’t as extensive damage as first thought.
We replaced the piston and liner on number one cylinder, cleaned out the sump as was full of congealed oil, replaced the oil pump and replaced the cylinder head. The timing belt had stripped its teeth and all the exhaust valve heads had snapped off.
New cambelt, water pump, tensioner and all gaskets replaced. Few other little tidy up jobs done.
All up and running again and sounding great, and with an earlier than planned reunion with the owners, which is always a good thing.
Hope you both have some good weather and runs out in her before the winter weather sets in. Posted today to the

Local ones today…
Micklefield, near Leeds, this morning for work on a fairly new acquisition that had no service history, but the owners were assured that the head gasket had been done. Unfortunately, for them, it had failed, so this was replaced, plus cambelt service carried out. We were also asked to replace the underfloor coolant pipes, but stainless ones were already fitted. A few of the hoses had been subjected to quite a bit of heat and had swollen, so we swapped these out. Loads of missing and wrong bolts, exhaust heat shield missing, so all of these were replaced to get this fab car back to rights and give the owners peace of mind.
Only one key fob so Paul Brown’s (Technozen) details given to them to send the Pektron unit off for a new one to be coded.
Absolutely baking hot weather in lovely company, with a constant stream of tea! Great to meet Keith and his wife and granddaughter Ruby.
From there we went over to Huddersfield for replacement sphere on Andy’s tidy and very low mileage F. He’d contacted us a while ago saying he was having issues getting up and over the crest on his very steep drive, had the car pumped up, but turns out the sphere had blown. Car now back at a the correct ride height.

For our last day of the London tour we found ourselves in Canary Wharf…
A very warm welcome from Adrian who had also been waiting ages for us to come. His lovely MGF mpi had suffered head gasket failure. A few things discussed that he would like us to return to do.
Thank you, so much Adrian for your hospitality, could have stayed on your balcony quite happily for the rest of the day!
Good run back up north, called in to coffee stop on the A1 and Kevin from ‘Trophy Cars’ popped over to ask us in for a cuppa, good to have a chat and a look round the place. Thanks for the drink Kevin and use of your facilities! 🙂
