Rough Luck Racing Update
We unhitched the camper and left our campsite in Brighton and headed over to Hastings this morning…
A few things carried out on a very tidy TF135, minor service, new rear caliper etc. Date to be arranged to return next year for break upgrade and a couple of other things. Lovely to meet you Ian, see you next year!
We then headed north, and went over to Tonbridge to see Dan, as he had bought a new wide-band Lambda that he wanted fitting to his, heavily modified and supercharged, MGF. We replaced this and Jon wired it in to the ECU. Car up and running and sounding really good.
On our way home now through some torrential rain and floods. What an interesting and enjoyable week on the south coast.
Then it’s restock ‘The Beast’ and then next stop the south west. posted on Rough Luck Racing https://ift.tt/363HZbI

A run along Brighton seafront this morning to our call in Hove.
Nigel had asked us to replace the head gasket on his TF160 and carry out cambelt service as his local garages didn’t want to do it.
Everything went really well, Nigel was concerned that the car had a sticking valve, but when fired up the car was the smoothest we’ve ever heard.
We then headed over to Eastbourne and fab to see Chris again, cambelt service carried out on his lovely ‘Avril’, a very tidy TF135.
Shame the weather turned rubbish again, as we missed out on another pootle about on the C5 and his electric scooters! Let’s hope for better weather in March.
Thank you, to Martin, for the tea and biscuits, very welcome. posted on Rough Luck Racing https://ift.tt/363HZbI

Unhooked ‘The Beast’, left the campsite and went on to Gosport.
This beautiful looking TF135 belonged to a previous employee at Longbridge, while showing two owners, it had in fact only been owned by one, as it was his company car whilst at MG, then when he left he bought it.
Stephen is now the proud owner and it is a keeper, so he asked us to come and carry out full cambelt service and give the car a health check and advise on anything else. Underfloor pipes weren’t in great condition so we replaced these with stainless.
Great morning, lovely to meet you Stephen, and thank you for all the cuppas! Look forward to seeing you next year.
We then headed east and are now pitched at a fantastic site in Brighton. posted on Rough Luck Racing https://ift.tt/363HZbI

Couple of calls in Southampton today…
Despite the extremely wet and windy conditions we got the head gasket and cambelt replaced on Jan’s lovely TF135.
Took some draining off of the 12 litres of oil and coolant mix. Absolutely, everything was full of thick gunge. All cleaned up and cleared out (well as best as you can with one this bad) all back up and running up to temperature and good to go. Lovely to meet you Jan at distance!
We then went over to Mark’s lovely TF in Copperleaf that we’ve been looking after for some years now. Annual service carried out and investigation of a strange whirring noise, we went armed with an Idler pulley, thinking this would be the culprit, but it was just the air conditioning compressor had been left on and was causing a very subtle noise. Thank you to Joanne for an amazing brew, lovely to meet you!
Managed to get a pitch on the same site tonight with electric hook up as so many people had left, what a difference! Well needed after a long and soggy, but good day. posted on Rough Luck Racing https://ift.tt/363HZbI

The ‘maiden voyage’ in the camper today…
We went to Higham Ferrers, Northants and great to to see Lee who had rescued a fab looking TF about 4 years ago and has done a load of stuff to get ‘Selina’ looking lovely again. So he could feel confident going on the long runs he asked us to do a preemptive head gasket and also carry out the cambelt service. Really good morning, everything mostly behaved, lots of great conversation and cuppas.
Got the stickers ordered Lee, will het them in the post to you. Hope the leg doesn’t give you too much grief!
We then carried on further south to a campsite near Winchester.
A new venture for us, no last minute hotel bookings, thinking could do the same with a campsite, no chance! Found one, but no electric hookup so bought a generator which is grumbling away outside. Absolutely chucking it down and the side door is leaking. Got the telly though! posted on Rough Luck Racing https://ift.tt/363HZbI
